Hey everyone I am sure everyone knows by now but the commander rules committee resigned and WOTC is taking over the rules for better or for worse. I included their pictures below. I am not here to talk about the politics of commander or wether mana crypt should be banned. I am here to talk about people which is what fuels our game.
The committe broke up for many reasons but one of them I heard is because of the backlash they recieved for the recent bans. Some of that feed back included death threats to the members and their families, which is horrible. Just a horrible thing to do to another human being.
The rules committee were not a paid organization. They were a group of volunteers that just want to bring order to a game we all love which is a near impossible task. And they paid for it dearly, but they will move on and so will we.
I want to remind everyone that no matter what cards are legal in commander or how expensive your deck is, none of it matters if you have no one to play with. We are commander players. We are not playing for cash pirzes of $1000. We aren’t playing for fame or clout. We play this game because we love casting spells and summoning great big creatures. And maybe we compete for a couple of booster packs
For me the value of the most expensive card in my collection, is nothing compared to the enjoyment of the players around me. There is no greater sin for a magic player than to make someone quit the game entirely. So please the next time you play commander, or athe next time you build your expensive deck, think about the consequences. Think about your happiness. Think about why you even play.
